Nicosia, the divided city, has a large population of stray cats. Humans may only cross the Green Line, the barricaded no-man’s-land dividing Northern Cyprus from Cyprus, at designated checkpoints. Cats cross freely, ignoring this border.

I buy some gyros and walk along the Green Line, eating them. I am vegetarian, so I pick out the meat and feed it to the cats.
